Gigi Hadid is the first to do a cover shoot on first edition of Vogue Arabia, the cover page of the shoot shows Gigi who is half Palestinian wearing a beautifully jewelled Islamic veil, more images from the shoot show the 21 year old wearing a pink and purple hijab.
Check out some shots from the shoot below..

The first issue of Vogue Arabia will be available March 5th.

Vogue Arabia have received some backlash from the shoot with Gigi, most questioning why they didn't hire a Muslim model if showcasing the hijab was the reason for this selection of photos.
However, the shoot has also received a flood of positive which has drowned out the negative. A lot of the positive reactions were linked with Gigi and the Hadid's Palestinian routes and how representation of Palestinian-Americans in the media is a positive.

Vogue Arabia's editor-in-chief is Saudi princess Deena Aljuhani Abdulaziz had nothing but praise when talking about Gigi's work for Vogue Arabia's first cover;
"The collage of countries across the Arab world are long-deserving of a place in fashion history and there’s no better first ‘face’ to lead the charge for Vogue Arabia than Gigi, a model who defines tomorrow’s entrepreneurial and dynamic generation."

Gigi and Vogue Arabia have made a huge statement with this shoot and the use of Islamic religious wear, with there being a lot of controversy on the topic this collaboration is showing the world that there is nothing wrong with religious wear. I love the message that this shows.
